Mission of UI Team
Statement of Purpose: Assure that the product is useable by the end user.
Goals:
The UI Team is responsible for the ease of use, esthetics, organization, and compatibility of the product's interface. The goals can be categorized into two main areas.
Usability: The team is responsible for understanding and meeting users' needs. The major tasks will be requirements analysis and usability testing. Members will participate in on-site research at Bobby Rahal, and will conduct testing of the prototypes.
Prototyping: The team is responsible for developing and creating GUI prototypes compatible with the work done by the other teams. To create the prototypes, members will be required to learn specialized software. Macromedia Director will be the primary tool, supported by Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Macromedia Freehand, to name a few.
Developing user interfaces requires close relationships with several groups. Therefore each team member will have Liaison Responsibility with one or more groups.
In order for the User Interface Team to design and implement an effective user interface, the UI Team must have close ties with all of the teams involved in the design and implementation of PAID. This requires that each member act as a liaison with one of five other teams: Authentication, Network, Event Service, Learning, Database. Therefore, liaisons must maintain close contacts with the other teams in order to understand how the work done in these teams will affect the interface, and to elicit responses from the other teams on ideas generated by the interface team. Other liaison responsibilities will include initiating and maintaining contact with end user(s) of the application.
